Hi Richie,

I'm again complaining :-) Can you direct me to the release calender?
So the user community can see when to expect the next release?

Secondly, why don't you expect a 5.0.4 release? Do you mean all open bugs, even the ones from 4.2, will be closed with the release of 5.0.3? Now that's good news ! LOL

The calendar is being worked upon and will be out once I am happy with it.

Yes, I mean all the open bugs as I thought that is how the community will like it to be. In case, it is okay with 5.0.4, then that is fine as well.

The 4.2.x series is in abeyance as of now and we really have not worked on it for sometime but we will continue to support those who are on it. The bug fixes will continue on it though.

It will be nice if those in 4.2.x migrate to 5.0 as we have a proper migration path now between the two. Moreover, 5.0.x is more aesthetic and stable than 4.2.x.

I think it depends on the timeline handling you set yourself as a goal.
If you want a 5.0.3 release at, for example: december 1, 2006 and you're not ready with all the fixes. What will you do?
a) delay the release, until you're finished, or
b) release it with all that has been done and move the then still open bugs to release 5.0.4
My preference would be option B. Because i can then scedule updating my clients more easier. Beside it's a lot more clear: at that date their will be a bugfix release,
So, in short, set a realistic timeline and stick to it. Don't be afraid to move a bugfix to the next release if it takes more time to fix it.

About the 4.2.x series, I have six customers who will not be upgraded to 5 series due to a heavy customisation. They won't pay me again :-) for that customisation in such a short notice. So it could take more then a year or two before they even consider an migration.
Remember from a business point of view, you simple want you personal to work fast and easy. Not learning new things every few months, as that takes time and money.
