5.0.3 delay update

We did the bug allocation for the 5.0.3 release. We realized that the 5.0.2 was too hard-pressed for time as there were many freshers who had to be taught too in the process of the release.

This is something that I need to work on as the team is getting into a pressure-cooker situation. This will only lead to burn outs.

Hence I feel the delay is justified for the 5.0.3 release. Better to take sometime out to let-off the steam and then  get back to work.

There will be a works-in-progress demo which will showcase the latest developments including the latest code-contributions.

The number of bugs in 5.0.3 is around 200 and that further necessitates that we have the 5.0.4 planned. It is all the more important that we do not keep the market waiting so we will make two releases to that effect - the 5.0.3 and the 5.0.4.

We are working on some performance changes as well. We expect a huge increase in response time.  I would expect that to be made available by the 5.0.3 release.

We are also working on the release calendar format. This is in the works and will take sometime to come out.

Would there be anything else that you guys would like to know about or suggest that we add to make ourselves more open?

    Hi Richie

    Thanks for the sterling effort.

There are many of us who are evaluating VT501, but have not gone live. There are some who have gone live, but may contemplate going towards 502.

We do not know know if there are changes it is safe to re-install 502 and use the data from 501 without actually installing the package itself.

Maybe you can provide some kind of change log (especially relatting to data structure changes, so that we can decide whether or not to upgrade and provide you with communifty feedback.

Please can you place a print option in the calendar list view, so I can print my daily meetings and tasks and hit the road - this is a very basic requirement, some of us are not fully fledged road warriors yet - we need to take this informaton with us on the road in hard format. To have a print option in the calendar view makes sense and this should be in a calendar format not a “print screen” (or at least a properly formatted list view)

Also, in reporting under activities there is no “activity type” column, so the activity reporting is severly restricted as it does not present which activity type you are reporting on - this flaw renders reporting in this module useless. (this has been problem on all previous versions as well and for some reason there has been no cure)

    Hi Tony!

Activities is a complex module with a lot of dependencies hence we tread with caution in that area. Not that what is asked for cannot be done just that we have to have a lot of tests done before we certify it fit for usage.

Regarding the print option, I will ask my team to have a look at the same at the earliest.
