April 22nd, 2007 by Gopal
Dear Team,
I am glad to inform you that, v5.0.3 development is almost completed and we can expect release shortly.
Till v5.0.2 release, language packs were released after product release. Due to this reason, our International users were waiting for a long time for deployments. With your kind cooperation, this time we would like to release language packs along with main product release.
Please follow the steps given below to update v 5.0.3 language packs:
1. Check out the latest source from SVN (vtiger source repository)
http://vtiger.fosslabs.com/svn/vtiger/vtigercrm/branches/5.0.3
2. Update your language pack in vtigerForge and vtiger Wiki
vtigerForge: http://vtigerforge.com
Wiki: http://wiki.vtiger.com/index.php/Vtiger_Language_Packs_Maintainers
3. Once language pack is ready for testing, please alert in vtiger Forums/Mailing List/Blogs etc, so that community can participate actively in validation process.
4. If you are already running vtiger CRM in your Web site please post a Demo link. Otherwise we can host Demo site for your translated vtiger CRM version. For more details, please drop me a mail at gopals at vtiger dot com.
5. Finally, release your language pack along with v5.0.3 release. I will let you know the exact date once we have finalized the release date.
Looking forward for your kind cooperation in making this event successful.
Regards,
Gopal

Gopal,
In some projects there’s a “oficial” event in the projects timeline defined as “string freeze”, which basically means that no string should be changed after some specific date. As 5.03 is in bug-hunt mode, it’s highly improbable that strings need to be changed (unless the bug is a typo in a string). With the string freeze translators can rest assured that they will not be running around their tails with changing strings.
My suggestion is for you as official maintainers to declare a “string freeze”, as soon as the first RC build is made. After this no patch can change any message in the system. This will make it easier for translators to achieve their goals.
Besides that, good to know that you recovered well! Best regards,
Carlos
Dear Carlos,
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I will make an official announcement, once we freezes the issues related to i18n.
Best Regards,
Gopal
