Hi,
We're still trying to use VTiger. It has many of the features that we need, however, it also has many that we don't. We need a way to turn off and remove those features that are not used.

Also, we have about 20 products, each product has 2-6 versions. When adding a new account, there doesnt' seem to be a way to associate 1 or more product with that acct. Will this be fixed soon? I hate to scrap VTiger after all this work.
Thanks, Byron

Hi Byron,

If it is required to turn off the unwanted modules in vtigerCRM, you can do the same from Settings ->User & Access Management -> Profiles. Here the tab can be disabled as the whole.

Kindly note that only the sub tabs (like Notes & HelpDesk ) can be disabled. The parent tabs (like Sales & Marketing) cannot be disabled. If all the sub tabs present under a parenttab is disabled, then the parenttab will not be displayed.

It is possible to associate a number of products with the account.
Create an Account. Go to the Account DetailView page. Click on the More Information link. Click on the Add Product button to add a product and associate it with the account.

In our forthcoming release you can associate any number of products to an account and vice a versa. We have n <->n relationship in between accounts and products. For more details please visit development demo:

Thanks,

This has been a tough call to make as we are almost there and the temptation to release too is very high.
Still the right thing will be to see this phase out and get to the next round of validation. If we have done all our homework well, we should not encounter any mega issues and should be able to release the product soon.

If you folks check out the codebase by early next week and start having a go at it, it will do us a lot of good. More hands the merrier.

Hello Nice work! Took a look at the wip installtion this morning. I'm not sure if I do some thing wrong or not. Don't think this is a big one but it's important. One of the first questions you get when you tries to introduce the vtiger is from the pepole that takes care of the economics.

-How do I see the total sum of all invoices, or orders for the last week or month or so?? And if you look att the preinstalled reports for the invoices there is only one and it dos not give us the total and no total of all inoices.

I tryed to create one: "Invoiece Sum of all" and it ended up under: Account and Contact Reports but I din't save it there... I can't move to Inoices reports. vtiger tells me that I'll have to select one. It'looks as it looses the selection of the report.

I'll think it's a good Idea to include the total sum and all other fields with numbers in the "6. Calculations" when you create a report. It would be nice if the preinstalld reports includs calculations. This would improve the possibility to role out the product. The pepole tha takes care of the money are dessition makers!

Sorry for the bad spelling.....
Time To go to work for me

As everybody else, I am looking forward to the new release.
Contrary to some others, I am encouraging you not to relaese before you are satisfied that everything is ok.
I did such an early release once in one of my projects: never again: the anger of your customers concerning a late release will boil down if the product is good, eventually, they will forget the late release. But if they wait so long, and it is still buggy? Then they can be really angry.

Other than that, do we need an upgrade script from 5.0.3 rc to 5.0.3? I noticed there are some new items (consecutive numbering, which is a good thing), but does that need new database fields?

thanks for all Klaus

Open quotes in home page still shows Accepted ones, Just in case test it with other languages too.
I think Stage in tables vtiger_quotes and others alike ,should be an ID number to prevent language changes errors don´t forget that we mayhave employees around the world using the same deployment but in different languages.

We are tracking all the comments. Please keep posting.

Thanks for the encouragement Klaus, really need that. I am convinced that a late but good release is better to avoid precisely what you have mentioned.
vtiger may end up losing some users but then it is much better to take these hits now than have a mega-hit after a poor release.

Since you've mentioned the many to many relationship between account and products, I have two quick questions relating to the idea of accounts and "sub" 'member of' accounts.

Quick background: In my company we deal primarily with advertising agencies, which I am equating to an account, and these "agency" accounts have the potential of hundreds of 'member of' "client" accounts. The problem is that these "client" accounts may be listed under multiple "agency" accounts.

Question #1:
It does NOT seem like the 5.0.3svn version I checked out a month ago allows many to many account (sub)accounts. Has/will this be implimented in the final relase?

Question #2:
Once I get question #1 sorted out (I have a workaround using the description to list additional 'member of' "agency" accounts), I will have a need to list ALL 'member of' accounts of each "agency" account. The forum mentioned the ability to list all "related" accounts was removed in v4 somewhere. Are there any plans to re-add this functionality (as I didn't see it in v5.0.3svn)?

Thanks if you can provide any insight into my situation, and great work on the product so far!

Hi Klaus,

As said by you, we also want to ensure that, we address all the known ShowStopper, Critical and Major issues for the 5.0.3 release. Even though it is taking some more time, we want to make sure that we make a stable, production quality release.

Regading the migration, yes we will be providing a migration script to migrate data between vtigerCRM 5.0.3 RC2 to vtigerCRM 5.0.3

Hi Jason,

Currently in vtigerCRM 5.0.3, the account-sub account relationsip is many to one.

Right now in 5.0.3 we are focussing mainly on bug fixing and there will not be any major feature additions. However we will definitely consider this for the 5.1 release.

Thanks,
Don

Thanks for the reply Don. I didn't expect it to make it to this release, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't already there, and since Byron brought up the similar situation I figured I'd ask (I tried asking in the public forum but didn't get a reply). I've got a few more issues relating to our business model, but hopefully they'll be addressed in a future relase.

One final thing, can you give me the link to the official "feature request" list. I looked around the community area and forums but couldn't find it and I've got a few items to add if they're not already on it.

Thanks again!

What about a couple of the issues that have contributed patches, even though they may to be lower priority issues. Will they make it into the release?

Either way, great job everyone! I share the same opinion as Klaus; waiting longer is definitely worth it in the name of a stable release. If people really priority the latest and greatest over a stable release then they can just install from SVN or betas ;)

Reid,

In vtigerCRM 5.0.3 we will integrate most of the patches contributed for bug fixing.

Currently we will not consider patches with feature enhancements for 5.0.3. We will consider them in the next release.

Thanks,
Don

Hi John,

It's sure that your patch will be integrated in 5.0.3 GA, apart from this the patches marked with milestone 5.0.3 will also be added to this release.

I have been trying to test the email system by sending to multiple selected contacts but it does not work. I can only send to one contact at a time or just the first contact of a selected group of contacts. This worked on the last svn code but now it does not work. When I selected multiple contacts it sent out one at a time in the past. I have a sample contact list with 7 different emails that I have been working with.

Really need to have a way that you can include "$" dollar signs in emails.

currently if you put a dollar sign in an email it reads it as a variable.

This is not good since lots of emails include dollar signs, every time you type an amount for a product it has a dollar sign.

Thanks,

Stephen

Hello. Yesterday I’ll made a clean test installation (svn co http://vtiger.fosslabs.com/svn/vtiger/vtigercrm/branches/5.0.3) . Many things looks real nice. It’s a big improvement from 5.02 and even 5.03 rc2 that I’ll have introduced vtiger to the company where I’ll work in Sweden. Our world doesn’t have a single languish so (the invention of all languishes give us a lot of more work…. Phu….) I find some bugs in the webmail.

My installation is on Centos 4.4 whith the latest updates (not php 5.2). I use firefox to access vtiger. Thunderbird with iso-8859-1 to send mails to vtiger.

1)
If I’ll click on a mail to view and read it the header part with From:, To:, cc: Subject: gives me this error msg:

Warning: htmlentities() [function.htmlentities]: charset `ANSI_X3.4-1968' not supported, assuming iso-8859-1 in /var/www/html/vtiger/modules/Webmails/Webmails.php on line 700

Warning: htmlentities() [function.htmlentities]: charset `ANSI_X3.4-1968' not supported, assuming iso-8859-1 in /var/www/html/vtiger/modules/Webmails/Webmails.php on line 700

And after that I’ll see the From:, To:, cc: Subject:
If I’ll change the line: “return htmlentities($langstring, 2,$charset)” with the following not correct work around “return htmlentities($langstring, 2,’iso-8859-1’)” the error msg disappears. (Php is not my languish yet so I can’t give you any better solution)

2) If I sends a mail with the subject “Test special characters å ä ö Å Ä Ö ü Ü é É è È á Á à À” like (Ctrl-U in Thunderbird):
“
Message-ID:
Date: Sat, 05 May 2007 14:16:14 +0200
From: Johan
User-Agent: Thunderbird 1.5.0.10 (Windows/20070221)
MIME-Version: 1.0
To: Johan
Subject: Test special characters =?ISO-8859-1?Q?=E5_=E4_=F6_=C5_=C4?=
=?ISO-8859-1?Q?_=D6_=FC_=DC_=E9_=C9_=E8_=C8_=E1_=C1_?=
=?ISO-8859-1?Q?=E0_=C0?=
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1; format=flowed
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

body row 1: Test special characters å ä ö Å Ä Ö ü Ü é É è È á Á à À
body row 2: Test special characters å ä ö Å Ä Ö ü Ü é É è È á Á à À
body row 3: Test special characters å ä ö Å Ä Ö ü Ü é É è È á Á à À
End row.
“
Vtiger presents the subject correct in the list view that contans Info Subject Date From. But when I’ll click on the mail to view it the headers presents the subjects wrong like:
“Subject :Test special characters Ã¥ ä ö Ã… Ä Ö ü Ãœ é É è È á Á à À”

Vtiger also just give me the first row. To get all the rows I must send it in html (html gives me the same error in the subject) or If I send it without special characters in the subject.

3) The Search for mails don’t works with specials characters like å ä ö.

I’ll really impressed of the work and effort of the fixes so far!
Thanks a lot!
/Johan

Almost in the final stages now ...

The tension is pretty much palpable. Anyone who takes a walk along the cubicles will find intense faces working on their assigned areas with a prayer on their lips that all goes well. This is the final validation phase and things are going smooth ... till now.

I am almost satisfied with the quality of the release.
I hope that we will be able to do justice to the patient waiting.

Nice work.

Is the WIP going to be updated again before release?

Hi John,

We will be updating WIP (Work in Progress) demo before release. BTW, for the latest status of bugs refer to:

http://vtiger.fosslabs.com/cgi-bin/trac.cgi/report/13

So totally we have 100 issues as of today. Our validation will complete in a day or two. Afterwards, we will prioritize the bugs and fix most of the blocker/critical before public release.

Hi guys,

I've tried right now the following

svn checkout http://vtiger.fosslabs.com/svn/vtiger/vtigercrm/branches/5.0.3

before running install i have created the empty database and then went trough the hole install process skipping the "populate database".

installation finished successfully, but after pressing "Finish" instead of start page with login i see:

Catchable fatal error: Object of class Users could not be converted to string in /var/www/vtigercrm503rc/html/include/utils/CommonUtils.php on line 36

Hi vak,

To overcome this problem go to the file and to line no 36 /var/www/vtigercrm503rc/html/include/utils/CommonUtils.php

here you can find the following line
$log->debug("Entering is_admin(".$user.") method ...");

change it to

$log->debug("Entering is_admin method ...");

save it and access the login page.

Right now, we are giving the final touches to the screens esp the webmail screen. The icons look bland and very very unimpressive.

The idea is to make it more perky looking and at least web1.5-ish if not web2.0.

These subtle changes will make the experience more wholesome.
Funny that these on-the-face-things take so much time to be recognized and more so to be fixed.

There are close to 99 issues that we need to handle to get the release ship-shape. The number seems to be huge but the actual implementation will take close to a week or so.

The issues are the ones which affect the usability of the product hence are being categorized as major/critical/blocker.

Once these are in, we will be release-fit.

You can track the status of those tickets in the following url
http://vtiger.fosslabs.com/cgi-bin/trac.cgi/report/13

We are working on some UI changes for the webmail client. Hope that you folks like it. These are in the process of being integrated. You can see it tomorrow morning I guess.

Do let us know what you feel about them. Personally, I feel that the current webmail UI is very congested and less-user-friendly. The newer UI should add a fresh breath of air to the product.

We have fixed a host of issues in the webmails area and thought that - justice should not only be done, it should appear to be so as well- hence the new UI.

The release is on its way Team. Be prepared!

Having problems with updating some fields when using MySQL 5 - for instance, when updating custom field mappings for leads:

UPDATE vtiger_convertleadmapping SET accountfid = '453', contactfid = '', potentialfid = '' WHERE leadfid =481

will fail with #1366 - Incorrect integer value: '' for column 'contactfid' at row 2

Have fixed this in \modules\settings\SaveConvertLead.php by adding NULL values and removing quotemarks...

I think the same problem also exists in other areas, e.g. saving Email Server setting.

New report on an old Blocker bugg (existed even in 5.02)
Contacts, activites or whats so ever hides some times. On the pages "more info"

Hello, And as always thanks for the great work. It's realy stupid but I have know a bout this bug for 2 month but I have totaly forgot all aboute it. It even exist in the demo http://en.vtiger.com/wip/ that has been updated to day. So I'll think I'm the first one to report it.

I created an account i the wip "Account with many contacts"
added 22 contacts related to this account (or so many as you need to get the swap contacts arrows and the text "Showing 21 - 22 of 22") Make sure you are show in contacts at the second page "Showing 21 - 22 of 22".

Now you open an other account and clicks on "More info" If this one dosen't have more 20 contacts non of this first are to be found... the text tells: "Showing -19 - 0 of 1" and an empty list of contacts is below.

To view the contacts for the account that has less than 20. Go back to the one with more than 20 and view the first 1-20 and go back. Now thay are back!

This bug is for all this that you find on the "more info" page. Not only for the accounts even for more info under Invoices and most likely on all more info pages. Hoppfully they share the same source....

I would say it's a blocker. It took me 30 minuts to understand it the first time 2 months ago and yesterday 10 minutes before I remember the bug. I

Keep up the... work I'll soon we are playing with the final release!
Thanks!

We are in the midst of the final round of validation for the release.

There are close to 68 bugs filed already and the bugs will be addressed starting Tuesday or so.
You can have a look at the bugs here

http://vtiger.fosslabs.com/cgi-bin/trac.cgi/query?status=new&status=assigned&status=reopened&groupdesc=1&group=priority&version=5.0.3-val3&type=defect&order=summary

Though, I do want the release out early but these are issues that we cannot live out handling. So we will be fixing them too. We will have to make a call as to whatall to actually address and what to live with.

As of now, the focus is on fixing the blocker, critical and major.
Quite some issues have cropped up during the validation wrt the migrated build. These I am sure you also agree are needed to be handled asap.

You can expect the release by around Friday of the coming week or so.

We hope to complete validation today and also start the bug fixing simultaneously.

We will be reviewing the bugs that have come up and see what all needs to be fixed.
Based on this assessment, we will be able to arrive at a proper date of release.

You will agree that the bugs are far, far fewer than ever before and the quality of the bugs too have improved.

This basically proves that we are nearing a good release.

Those interested in the latest version, can take it from the repository.

Do not forget to post your bugs in the trac please.

We had a team meeting a little while ago. We have decided to move ahead with the testing and also with the bug fixing in parallel.

Most of the bugs are in the Migration-area. I must confess that I did not expect so many breakages but was told that there were many slip-ups in the process that we had put in place. This is being looked into and I hope to have it rectified by today evening India Time.

The other areas where we have bugs are :-
<strong>Related Lists
Search</strong>

These two are being thoroughly investigated to trace out if there are any more issues that are yet to be uncovered.

This time, each module is being tested twice intoto by different people. Earlier, we had had them reviewed thrice.
The difference between this time and the rest is that we are focussing on the Frequently Used Areas a lot more and then focussing resources on that area.
The youngsters are doing well and have kept up the tempo till now.

Hopefully, I can update something to you folks by today evening India Time.

The comment about replacing

$log->debug(”Entering is_admin method …”);

is not true... I had to comment out the whole line to get it to pass but even then I got an issue with the ListViewUtils.php.

The end result is that I had to go from PHP 5 to PHP 4.4.7 and this fixed everything.

Hope this helps.
