We are working on publishing videos of our team meetings, demos, training sessions, etc, so that our community can have a better access to our development.

In this regard, I am looking for your help in selecting a suitable video streaming software (preferably Open Source), with features, such as uploading, streaming in different formats, gallery, traffic, comments, etc.,

PS: I have already uploaded some of recent team meeting videos in youtube.com. However, there are some limitations on size (100 MB or 10 minutes), poor quality with product demo videos, blocking of youtube site by some companies etc. Hence I am planning to have our own server.

Any pointers will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Gopal

The FLV player () is being used by a series of vid blogs in conjunction with wordpress. Licensed under the CCL it’s stopping short of being OpenSource, but it should absolutely do in this case.
The only critical point is the requirement of videos being FLV or streams being RMTP (however documentation for conversion using OS converters is available on the site)

    Gopal:
If you need someone to host the video files I can. My host (dreamhost) has a flash media player. I am not sure how well it would work by hotlinking to the content from another site, but the video files would be hosted on their servers so it should not have any limitations. Let me know if vtiger needs my help. Thanks.

I really like the quality of DIVX videos.
I’ve streamed and watched several presentations over 2 hours long without issues.

Make a VTiger channel there and start slammin’ them up!

Setting up an icecast server is pretty painless. Then you’ll want to find either ffmpeg2theora, ezstream, and/or Dark ice
    www.icecast.org will get you there.

    Dear Team,

Thank you for your overwhelming response.

I am looking at all options. If things go right, we will host our first video in our own server by early next week.

It will be very helpful, if you could also consider pointing some links for WordPress, Joomla, and MediaWiki plugins for these software.

    Regard,
    Gopal
