How can we make the Forge more effective?
July 13th, 2007 by Richie
vtiger forge has been movedĀ to its new house.
I would like to open the discussion on how we can make the Forge more effective. There are many projects out there that can be integrated into the main trunk , that can be mashed and integrated, that can be used independently, etc.
I need help in finding out how to make the Forge more effective. I have less experience on this front.
The intent is to promote the forge, help developersĀ develop on top of vtiger, venture into new and useful avenues and prosper together.
Balduin has been pointing out this Achilles Heel for sometime and I have NO answer for it now.
How should we move forward on this?

If i can suggest:
- good and easy for undrestanding categories (not bad defaults like now) - feature for category suggesting
- clean and simply modern layout (usability)
- pre-defined statuses (alfa, beta, rc, maturity, stable)
- pre-defined something like Component in trac (patch, hack, new module, core enhancement etc)
- info for wich version vtiger is projct tested
- comments, ratings (posibility sort by..this)
- good (user editable with WISIWIG and images) news page + clear rss feed
- language availability info
- functional SVN for devs
- bug tracker
- and much more
I want recommend use forge (or another one centralized sys) also as download section, now is very confused find anything (something is in forge, part of languages is in vt download section, something is nobody know where. I have experience with softed theme: many downloads when is post about that in forum (Weekly Snapshot), after that, absolutely pure count… So , im now suggesting new category for forge named “themes”
This is promised by Radiant long time ago.

Anything happened with the forge, so far?
Just checked it out again, but still seems much the same to me…
