Need for Patches, Patch Reviewers and Patch Process
July 13th, 2007 by Richie
We welcome patches from the community. There are enough bugs for all
to contribute their mite.
Now, we also need Patch Reviewers who have enough authority on vtiger code to flag a patch as “integrate-able”. I request members to come forward and volunteer to be a Patch Reviewer. Please do also mention your area of expertise so that there is a clear demarcation for the patch reviews.
We also welcome any known patch integration process that is used elsewhere. The idea is to have a smooth, coherent and sound process in place which adds value to the users. Typically, there are a lot many new users who submit patches but they are generally shooed away due to the manner of patch submission or for whatever other reasons. I would like to highlight that we need to ENCOURAGE patch submission and guide the folks who have submitted not-so-proper patches resulting in their patch not making it into the main product.
I am a novice on this front and need help.

I’d be interested in being a patch reviewer for perhaps the calendar module. However, I feel I’m still a newbie when it comes to creating vtiger patches so I would be interested in any tips on how my patches should be formulated so they would be integrated easier by the core developers. Maybe a section could be placed on the wiki regarding the format of patches.
