I hope you will give us enough time to test it. The long awaited switch to UTF-8 is significant and requires some testing with proper language files and real data.

Hi everyone,
Finally the webmail is able to retrieve in full my e-mails, even those with foreign characters ! I am glad you succeeded !

The only minor bug is that every accentuated letter is converted to a "?" (without quotes). This happens with a fresh windows "testbuild" install, UTF-8 encoding seems to be enabled for both apache and mysql.
I will test soon on linux and report.

I have installed the multi-lang PDF output patch available in the VtigerForge, which works nicely enough. A better idea would be to automatically output the PDF in the native language of the client... which would require a "speaking language" field...
Will Vtiger ever have such a functonnality built-in ?

Anyway, keep up the good job !

The validation phase will take more than a week. Hope this would be enough for your testing. Please let us know if you have any specific requirements and you need more time for validation.

You have done a great job.... providing us the EXCELLENT Vtiger crm i ever encountered.... 90 % have meet my requirements.... i wish i could learn how to edit the program to meet major requirements for universal users...

1. Create Admin options to lock the specific fields for users not to edit in some fields in the Sales Order Form like the "LIST PRICE", "TAX" field.

2. Create Admin options to add customs fields in the Sales Order Form under the "PRODUCT DETAIL" portion and make it viewable and printable.

3. Create Admin options to select specific field in the Product Informations form under "CUSTOM FIELDS" and make it viewable and printable.

4. Create Easy Options to change logo in the front page to make it personalized.

5. Create Product Return Entry Form and Reports for items returned or cancelled by the customers and added again to the quantity in the Product Inventory.

6. Create Account image field in the Account Form.

7. A unique year-end closing utility that converts old entries to viewable archives and automatically forwards ending balances to the periodic year as beginning balances

8. Possibility of FIFO, weighted average pricing or stock-value calculation based on manual cost price.

9. Comprehensive Physical Inventory Form and Reports. Doing periodic physical inventories is the essential piece of any effort to control your inventory. Physical inventories, the process by which retailers count the physical merchandise in the store and then look to reconcile it with stock quantities in the system, are the bridge between theory and reality. No matter how good your inventory control software is, if you are not periodically conducting physical inventories, the numbers in the system will be increasingly divorced from reality as time goes on.

10. Users comprehensive manual.

Well... i have a lot of request listed above... thats all for now.

Thanks for doing it GREAT.

God Bless You All.

Patch for PHP5.2 is included in 5.0.4. So you do not need that patch.

Any ideas why i can't log in as admin after successful install? I did change the admin pwd during the install and select use demo data.

If I try admin/admin or admin/mypwd the login screen comes back with 'please use a vaild username/password'

I've reinstalled several times, checked settings in php.ini, checked mysql user/permissions.

Just trying a stock 5.0.3+PHP5.2 Patch to check I'm not stupid, but any ideas welcome

I get the following message if I try to post on the forums

"In order to try to prevent spammers, we do not allow our users to post URLs in any form until they have posted at least 0 legitimate posts and have been with us for more than 0 days. We appreciate your understanding in this matter in order to help us eliminate spam from this forum. If you have somehow gotten this message even though you meet both of the criteria, please let us know ASAP."

So not sure whether this post will work!

Anyways, Great effort, vtiger team! This is just a post to mention that the build succeeded on my OpenBSD system and to mention a few of the minor issues I noticed. Any comments or suggestions on how I could have avoided those issues will be greatly appreciated.

Installed vTiger 5.0.4 Validation Build on OpenBSD .4.2-current, chrooted httpd server without any major problems. I had to install the following from ports/packages to make it work

pear-1.5.0p1 base classes for common PHP tasks
pear-Mail-1.1.14p0 class that provides multiple interfaces for sending email
pear-utils-1.5.0p0 utilities for managing pear extensions
php5-core-5.2.4p0 server-side HTML-embedded scripting language
php5-gd-5.2.4 image manipulation extensions for php5
php5-imap-5.2.4 imap, pop3 and nntp extensions for php5
php5-mysql-5.2.4 mysql database access extensions for php5
php5-soap-5.2.4 SOAP functions for php5

The only issue that was difficult to figure out was webmail. We use dovecot as the IMAP Server and the typical combination of IMAPv4/TLS/validate cert did not work (works if hard coded in webmail.php). However, the combination of
IMAPv4/SSL/do not validate SSL Cert works.

The recommended php.ini file that comes with the suhosin-hardened php on OpenBSD did not work for me. Using the regular php.ini worked.

If there are any documents/advice on using php more securely or ways to use the php.ini-recommended file that OpenBSD php packages come with, please let me know.

With OpenBSD, renaming the install directory and the install.php file did not work as part of the installation process. I had to manually make the changes. Also, "System Details" shows a lots of errors (probably because the web
server is chrooted).

The UI for webmail looks awkward when there are lots of IMAP folders. On Konqueror it does not look as bad but on IE 7.0 and on Firefox 2.0, there is a lot of white space before the message list and also since the message
display is lined up with the bottom of the page, there is a lot of whitespace between the list of messages and the message text box. I tried to edit the template files but was not successful. If there are fewer than 15 or so
folders on the IMAP server, the display looks fine.

Thanks again for an excellent product.

php5-gd-5.2.4 image manipulation extensions for php5
php5-imap-5.2.4 imap, pop3 and nntp extensions for php5
php5-mysql-5.2.4 mysql database access extensions for php5
php5-soap-5.2.4 SOAP functions for php5

Also, “System Details” shows a lots of errors (probably because the web
server is chrooted).

Vijay

Looks nice!

Just one thing I made an misstake an key in just one "a" in the global search field........ And vtiger working for a while and gives a BIG hit list. It would be nice if it stops after maybe 50 hits or some thing. How ever I can't see that this is some thing that you need to fix before this release.

Best regards

I don't want the search to stop after 50 hits, at least I would like to configure that myself and have the ability to turn it off.

You are doing a great job. Vtiger is the best of its kind. But you are forgetting Europe and the Euro. Please note that the euro is the currency of thirteen European Union countries, stretching from the Mediterranean to the Arctic Circle (namely Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal, Slovenia and Finland). As from 1 January 2008, the euro will also be the currency of Cyprus and Malta. Certain parts of the euro area are located outside the European continent, such as the four French overseas departments (Guadeloupe, French Guyana, Martinique and Réunion), as well as Madeira, the Canary Islands etc. The euro also circulates outside the European Union:
- Third countries having adopted the euro as their national currency: Monaco, the Vatican City and San Marino
- Overseas territories where the euro is official currency: Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon and Mayotte
- Countries and territories with euro as de facto currency: Andorra, Kosovo and Montenegro.

So, please, when possible add these rules to Vtiger:

ISO="EUR" short="Euro" decimals="2" decimal-separator="," grouping-separator="." currency-placement="before"

Thanks very much for reading this and I hope this post is not off-topic.

Hum?? PHP 4.4 support in vtiger....
Php.net says:
"PHP 4 end of life announcement
[13-Jul-2007]

Today it is exactly three years ago since PHP 5 has been released. In those three years it has seen many improvements over PHP 4. PHP 5 is fast, stable & production-ready and as PHP 6 is on the way, PHP 4 will be discontinued.

The PHP development team hereby announces that support for PHP 4 will continue until the end of this year only. After 2007-12-31 there will be no more releases of PHP 4.4. We will continue to make critical security fixes available on a case-by-case basis until 2008-08-08. Please use the rest of this year to make your application suitable to run on PHP 5.

For documentation on migration for PHP 4 to PHP 5, we would like to point you to our migration guide. There is additional information available in the PHP 5.0 to PHP 5.1 and PHP 5.1 to PHP 5.2 migration guides as well."

So maybe it's just some wast of time to do something about it?

Best Regards
