HI, Thanks, I´m introducing this in my company sales team meeting today. multicurrency was a big stopper here even though we´re using it.
I´m not moving frrom 5.03 until 5.1 but, a big but here, there´s one point that should not be left behind.
Quotes Snapshots. I´ve been playing today with wip and I found this missing. It´s very important to snapshot quotes and being able to review them.it´s not useful to see only stage and Total amount. We need to see if an item was changed/added and priced.
I can´t make users to attach the pdf everytime they generate one.
I´ve also found that makin changes to quotes without changing status doesn´t generate a history item.
So you need to identify this snapshots for customers can relate and if they call to talk about a quote sent march 15 15:35 you know what are they talkin about.
Thanks and I hope I´m helping here.

Hi,

I have a question about Duplicate Record Merging. I think that this means to know what is a duplicate record.
For exemple:
For Account, the account name is unique in default, but in my compagny (and I know other ones) it is not. It is the phone number that is unique. And I'm sure that we will find many other definition of "duplicate record". So vtiger must had a config that will set which field must be unique.
other exemple: in Potential, I need a unique key of 2 fields "Potential Name" and "Account Name", maybe (surely) others will need only "Potential Name".
And what about homonym in contacts?

Do you plan to have such config ?

<a href="http://forums.vtiger.com/viewtopic.php?t=19213" rel="nofollow">
Here is my original post</a>

thanks

Hi, when dealing with different currencies the exchange rate is important. As I can see at your demo the rate is taken from the currency settings. That raises the question of how to keep the exchange rate in line with the changes as they occure frequently at the market.

The average user usually does not have admin privileges and therefore has no chance to check whether the exchange rate is still valid or not and to modify it if necessary.

Perhaps you can add a field which displays the exchange rate set and provides the option to modify it.

Hi Vtiger-team,

to improve the B2C support of vtiger, I would like to see invoices with contacts, so you could use contacts individual from accounts.

hi,
i am having trouble migrating from one machine to the other, will be there be a simpler way like how it should be, using cmd and mysql. can it be as simple and idiot proof like simple export button and simple import button? it will really really help for doing backup, although the auto back up is a very good idea, if only restoring the data is as simple. If there is such a function already presented, can you pls contact me. thank you

Hey guys,

If you could also include the project management module into the base system, that would be genius :-)

Hi,

Need your attention on following features:

Super Admin and Sub Admin functionality, whereby Super Admin can create multiple admin, who can only do certain tasks [add users, etc] and not everything. When we do implementation for our clients who require say only 40% functionality, its bit scared to give them admin user id where they can see lot of unwanted features.

Similary we need functionality where we would like to controls permissions for admin, like we want to give On Demand CRM to our client and would like to control the maximum number of users they can create. Also we don't want them to be able to do everything in settings.

Keep up the great work. I'll be soon informing you of our on demand vtiger service for smb's.

Thanx & Regards,
Deep

One more:

Though Multi tenent will be great for On Demand, but for now it will be good if you can allow Companies to have multiple locations or branches. The users, customers, contacts, invoices, etc all can be attached to a branch [through the user actually] and then we can generate reports either branch wise or consoliated.

If we think clearly this is not really difficult to implement, but will be quite useful for bit bigger clients.

Few more things:

Payment Module - We can still live with some custom fields in the Invoice, but a separate module can provide lot more flexibility in managing the multiple transactions for one invoice.

Enhanced Reporting Module - Give bit more flexibility and options for users to design reports.

Partner /Reseller Portal - We have Customer Portal but having a partner's portal will be great and actually it can utilze all the existing options [leads, quotation, etc] available in vtiger, we just need to have some kind of filtering for them to not to see other partner's data. And then again patner wise reports or consolidated. Later this can be extended to commission calculation as well. We can also add similar features like KB, FAQ and Ticket like we have in customer portal.

Not sure how many cent's worth, but i really like to see vtiger doing things better than lot others!!

1. We need to note that Currency exchange rate changes. The best way to approach this is when a transaction is created in foreign currency, the exchange rate must also be recorded together with the transaction. This way you will get the same rate applied when displaying the transaction.

2. Multi Currency should also be managed in the quotes module. Most companies now need to work with multi currency when quoting.

Currently there is no export capability with campaigns under the 'More Information' tab..

Hello Vtiger Team and thanks for the 5.0.4 version big improvement. This is my wish list:

1. Start thinking of what you add to the next version. How long time will it take. How difficult is it? How many things in the code are dependent of the change? Can we do it in time with our resources? If not it's better to take it in the next release!

2. The Organization-level Sharing Rules tells us: that calendars are private and users cannot access other users
calendar. It must be possible to share the calendar if the user want's to do that or if the company decides to have that policy! It should be possible to share to both users that are above, bellow or at the same level in the Roles & Hierarchy Tree. If this sharing is not possible then its not possible for me to book a meeting with 2 of my colleges (because I don't know what they are doing!!!) and a customer to us as an example. If this is not possible to do Then we are missing a big point of what a crm-system should be used for! I see this as the number one show stopper for vtiger.

3. Better Customer Portal. With possibilities for the customer to change their information.
4. Multi Currency Support. -I agree!
2. Recycle Bin. -I agree!
3. Duplicate Record Merging (yes If you mean that I tell witch 2 records to merge.)
4. Calendar Popup Reminder -I agree!

And one point for the release after 5.1 maybe 6.0 since this one will affect the hole vtiger code base. A modular address design that allow us to safely key in addresses to all countries in the world. Why??
-Because if I address the customer wrong and send him something It's cost a lot. Maybe I even loses the customer.
-I don't know how to correctly key in addresses in all countries in the world.
-For different countries you need different number of address fields, in different order and so on....
-Possibilities to add address rules for different countries.

The space is limited here. I think it would be god to start collecting Ideas around this some where else.

Best Regards
Johan

Hi,
I just want to say that I have the same matters as Johan !

For the address field, I think there are 2 steps before addressing all countries (refer to my tickets 4340 and 4182):
first: just make the detail view render the address as it is stored -> no spaces, only nbsp and whatever that will help to show the different lines of the address as th first step of the posts format are lines.
second: making what johan said only for the country of the compagny and for the rest, step 1 will help.

The third step (johan's) seems really big and will need the help of the whole community such as languages (where is the street number, do we need a state/lander/autonomia field etc).

Best Regards

Dear Santa,

I know it doesn't go along with the rest of the letters you get but I would like to see a maintenance release(Too many people have issues, especially webmail & migration) with only one new feature for my Christmas.. The plugin module.

True it's elfs oriented, but the end user will also benefit from it, being able to attach modules as plugin would be very powerful and the elfs would not get crazy each time they have to update their custom code for the next vTiger version.
One year ago, and still now, developers(elfs sorry) asked to focus on the plugin module, it should be the priority to look forward to the futur module developments on the forge.

Please Santa please, I know you bear with us and that our suggestions are valuable but could we get moving on that at some point? Because Santa without happy elfs won't make a great Christmas ;)

I would see as a huge improvement if collections follow-up was implemented (invoices paid, amounts overdue, credit/debit notes).

Another useful enhancement would be the management of targets/sales quotas by salesperson, with corresponding reports. This is accounts for 50% of all sales manager responsibilities.

Accounts Login Customer Portal. It would be good to have the ability to assign an Account a login for Customer portal rather than per contact. That way a business can have a single login for all tickets regardless of how many contacts or who submitted it within that account.

This would work well for our SLA support clients.

I agree with krem.
The plugin module is the most important upgrade any system can have.

I will make the life of the developers so much easier.
It will "loadbalance" the burden of creating code.
It will give more "power" to the end users.
etc.

Hello,

It was clearly communicated in the past that postgresql support would be added with the 5.0X release of vtiger.

With all the changes involved with vtiger 5.04 it was clearly communicated that postgresql support would be postponed until release 5.1. The last update as per regards to postgresql support was approixmately 9 months ago.

Can you clearly communicate that it is your intention of supporting postgresql in release 5.1 of vtiger.

Thank you.

Hey Guys Another one...

I added some custom fields to Contacts table [very important for me to view them in fist go], so I added a filter, choose my selected fields and make it default, so happy!!

Now when i see the contacts under one account [More Information tab], it still shows the original fields and all my hard work is of no use :-(

This is true for all pages/grids.

I hope you guys can do sth about this.

Forget Postgre.
Only benefit I see with Postgre is that it would allow some integration/teamwork with Openbravo community.
Openbravo should have stayed with MySQL and not migrated to Postgre. The thing I miss with vTiger that is in Openbravo is debit/credit book-keeping ability.

The Multi currency feature is one I have been waiting for and it looks good. However along with good Multi currency support is the need to be able to translate database stored items such as Product names, descriptions, and comments, all of which will feature on the documents sent to the customer. There may be away to do this, which i have not found yet, but for my application (a small german company doing business worldwide) I need to be able to provide my customers a quote/invoice etc in their language/Currency.

However I must say that I am very happy with the features and progress of this product.

keep up the good work.

Regards

I agree with a lot of posts here.

But to me the most important now is still a plugin system.

No one wants to be updating custom code everytime a new vtiger is out.

Being able to connect in the Customer Portal as an Account is also very important to us. Right now we have to use a home made componenent in Joomla for our customers (Accounts) to access informations from vtiger (they access their invoices and they list their contacts)

Hello, just wanted to check in on the 5.1 GA release date. This blog states a September release and since we have just entered September (many more days to go) I was hoping for a clear update.

Regards,

It is now October 1, 2008. There has not been a schedule update of the release date(s) since May 28, 2008. Can we not get an update of what is seriously happening with 5.1 and release dates?

Hi Tim,

We are currently integrating and developing more features to 5.1 and no firm release dates have been planned.

Over last few weeks our team was busy developing new features and integrating the contributions... we are planning to update wip soon. Give us sometime.

Regards,
Prasad
