I may seem heavy about it, but what about Q/SO History snapshots, I´ve changed prod. qty and price in a quote and nothing reflects it.
Other point is that I think that an Accepted quote shouldn´t be able to edit.

the documents and recycle bin are nice enhancements

I’m happy to see you guys doing a excellent work, you’re heading the right way.

I only ask if you can implement the option that users at low roles can assign tasks to higher roles users with private data on. I consider this very critical.

The documents enhancement is seems very nice feature.

- I would like to see also automatic ID generated for each document. This would enable us to distinguish the different documents better.
- Attaching custom list of values to document object would enable us to classify these documents
- Then if we had mail merge, we could fill the header area of the document with this information

With mailmerge I of course mean the ability to merge document object attributes to document properties.

I tested de recyclebin e i guess this is a very important feature added but i would like to see an option to view al entities deleted in one view.

Thanks for the feedback. Following is the list of enhancements requested on this blog:-

1. Q/SO History snapshots

In your paper for the new custom filter function you wrote about the current solution:

1. As and when new filters are added, since all of them are accessible for all the users, it becomes hard to
manage the filters and not easily usable.
2. Users cannot have any private custom filters which they would not like other users to view or use it.

This is true. In your new solution you plan to provide the following solution:

Only the user who created the custom filter and the users above this user in the role hierarchy can
view this custom filter.

Here are my comments: It is a teriffic idea to make custom filter private and public. But I do see a problem with your role based approach. As a manager is superior in roles, the manager ends up with seeing all custom filter build by the co-worker. This can be a hugh number of filters and can make the custom view for the manager even harder to manage as it is currently the case.
I think it would be better to make the private filter really private (not role based) or add a settings which allows the manage to enable or disable the private filter lists from its subordinates.

HI, I´ve been showing 5.1 to my sales team and here´s their feedback:
1_If a product or quote has a specs datasheet attached then it´s nosense to download from the docs library to upload again to send the quote.I.E:If you press send mail with PDF They should be able to select documents From quoted products or at least from the library.
2_Price Books:They need the chance to batch update prices by % or amount. The chance to relate Accounts with price books so they doný have to pick a value for every quoted product.
3_MultiLanguage Descriptions:They quote and sell world wide so the chance to have product descriptions in more than one language would avoid to write it every time a quote is created.
4_Custom Fields reflected in Quotes/SO/INV and the chance to easily create the looks of them.

Love the new software, but in the Analytics - dashboard the sales by accounts would be much better improved if we could view the top “x” amount of accounts, we have well over 1300 and at the moment the graphs are useless as it tryies to display to much information, the top 10 or 20 accounts by account type would be a great feature

Hi All,

The source for 5.1 is now updated on the svn 5.1 branch. You can checkout the source from the 5.1 branch (http://trac.vtiger.com/svn/vtiger/vtigercrm/branches/5.1/) and try out the features.

But please make sure that you will not use it for production.

Thank you Asha for making this available. We have created, based on the current revision, a German demo at https://vtigercrm510.at.crm-now.de/ and will keep it updated. This will help us to check for new i18n issues arising with the new code.

It seems that you have for the final release much more improvements in mind as you have stated in your list of new features at this blog. I discovered a few of them (still as work in progress) and would say they are nice surprises.

Could you please add a ticket ID to the helpdesk module in the reports. When generating new reports or editing existing reports, the report ID is not on the list. Also, the search function for helpdesk module still fails when you type Close for the ticket status. This fails only when the first letter of the word ‘Close’ is capital letter. There is a bug already submitted for 5.0.4 for this issue.
I hope 5.1 will address all existing bugs/issues in 5.0.4 and 5.0.3. Other than that, I think vtiger is great open source product and keep up the good work.

Is there an estimated release date for 5.1?
One of the feature that I will really love is adding project module. This feature will really make vtiger compete with salesforce.com and sugarcrm

I agree with twahibell. I think what can make vtiger competitive with sugarcrm is to have a PROJECT MODULE and can be customizable up to the layout detail (such as default labels, tabs, etc.)

just tested the german version.
Almost any record from any module can be linked with notices (now documents), except records from the FAQ aka knowledge base. I think this should be possible too. By this way it is easy to provide further information like manuals, installation instruction and so on to common questions.

Do you have any kind of roadmap, even at some high level, beyond 5.1?

I’d really love to see two features:

1. Auto-escalation rules, to support customer service SLAs.
2. Workflows based on issue types.

-I have changed both the portalconfig and the config.inc to match my settings. I dtill get the “cannot connect to server.
i had that eroor from a week and can’t recover it also i am just new for using vtiger had been using microsoft rms for all ma life but i like vtiger more also one of ma customers moved out to vtiger crm i just wanted to tell ya guyz soon it’ll be da best crm ever also why dun you consider adding service module in it something that handles stuff like service and waranty

Are you using the same version of VtigerCRM as well as Customerportal? If they are not same version, you may face issues. If you are still facing issue, please try looking into forums where lots of reasons for such issues have been discussed. Let us know if we can help you in any way. If you give us the login details to your server, then we can try out the problem.

Just had a play on Balduins 5.1 test site - thanks for making it available

Not sure if putting all the detail on one page for a Campaign is sensible - it might be OK if you accept the default 20 records per page, but not so good if you want more. Have asked in the forums for two buttons, one which we have already for ‘Select all on this page’ and a new ‘Select All’ for all records in that campaign. This would negate the need to increase the records per page when doing a large mailing - it’s a real pain clicking through page after page.

Word Mail merge from Campaigns…. Automatically inserting Potential/Sales totals/ Number sent on Campaign main page.

Better integration of custom fields…….

Great product & love using it. Guess most of the things are just tweaks to make it easier to use, and everyone uses it differently & have differing needs. It can’t be all things to all people. Keep up the great work !

There was discussions about fixing a bug which prevents the use of HTML tags in Notes.

Interestingly, I did not see the Notes capability in the 5.1 WIP…

Did I miss something or is the Notes capability going away?

Feature request: For the new documents module it would be nice to have subfolders in folders. I suppose that it costs quite an effort to do it, at least one needs some kind of a tree view to browse through the documents.

I have been following the trac.vtiger.com web site for the 5.1 release. It seems like there has been no progress on this for over 4 months. No open tickets have been closed. Is there really some/any progress?

We’ll update you about the progress soon. We do not commit the source on 5.1 branch, unless until it is tested. That is why you see a delay and then a set of commits together.
