You can try upgrading your vtiger to RC version. But we suggest you to take a back up your source and database before trying to migrate. Also give it a try before you put it to use.
Our company required the use of many of the functions in the val2 release version which sadly doesn’t have a migration to the RC, but 5.0.4 just wasn’t cutting it.
Any way to move up to RC?

Looks great. I just upgraded from 5.04 - there seems to be an issue with the related items / enabling single pane view. My related items have disappeared and it won’t let me enable single pane view. Cleared my cache and checked on vtiger demo site (where it works)…
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey!
I posted earlier about the detail view being hidden. The problem is that the file default_module_view.php in crm/user_privileges gets written blank when upgrading from 5.04 to 5.1RC (Tested on numerous installations). Here is the code you can put in there.

If I am getting it right, you are saying that you have created a new theme which you would like to carry forward to 5.1.0. Is that right?
There are some css changes too. So if you have a theme of your own, you will have to check with the changes we have done to one of the style.css file (eg: themes/softed/style.css), and do the changes as per that to the style.css file of your custom theme.

I have a question about 5.1, are we meant to (should we be able to) use the vtlib interface as we did before 5.1?
Reason I ask is that custom fields I create by code with the vtlib do not act the same as custom fields added via the module manager.

vtlib API lets you create any field type (defaults to standard field).
Few conventions are followed for custom fields like,
generatedtype = 2,
fieldname and columnname are like cf_<fieldid>
If are trying to create custom fields for your module, I would recommend Layout Editor as opposed to vtlib API.

We haven’t experimented the migration path from validation builds to RC as it could be a bit inconsistent. If there is any progress we will update you.
If there is not too much data, export the it and start on RC by importing.

Hi, I have tried to upgrade an existing install many ways and have numerous errors. I also tried to install after deleting the existing db and http dirs. Is there a log file I should send to some one?
The install came from Elastix that includes your product and it has been upgraded from 503 to 504. That may be most of the problem. But it was working fine before I fixed it.
Looking forward to the final release and will help if I can to get this going. Let me know what will help you.

I would like to know one thing why is that LDAP stuff not added.
This might be one the great feature for your product and hopefully if you guys able to finish that task we would surely be talking a big business in near future and do ping me.

The REAME file is not upto date. You can go ahead and apply the patch to start mirgration (Make sure to take the backup of your source and database before starting with migration).

the instructions in the patch are for 5.0.4, not for 5.1.
I assume copy PHP files to existing vtiger installation.

The plugin working with Outlook 2007 ??
Under contacts and accounts, the [More Information] tab does not seem to show up. Is there something I am missing.
Update, it looks like the [More Information] tab
is not showing on any of the places where it should be. Contacts, accounts, services, products etc.
Can someone confirm that this is just a problem with my install and not a general problem with 5.1RC.
Problem solved, I was migrating from a Elastix install of 5.03 which did not work out well. I did a clean install of 5.1.0RC and all installed as it should.
We did a short demo to a prospect today of the 5.10RC.
Many congrats. It worked well and has a great many new and useful features. Very impressed.
Based on your feedback so far, do you think that the RC is pretty close to a finished release?
I am very tempted to move our own current CRM instance from 5.04 to 5.1 now. Also, will there be an upgrade path for the database from this RC to the final released version?

With the feedback so far on 5.1.0 RC, we have found that they are few important issues that we will have to address before we go out with the release. We will soon update the community about the final dates of the GA release.
Yes, there will be migration path from 5.1.0 RC to 5.1.0 GA.

this error is shown when there is a query failure on the server, please enable debug logging and check you log file for failed queries.

yes you can use this version in production as we will be supporting the migration from this version to the final version. but if you migrating from older version then we advise caution and ask to take backup of your database and source before migrating, also we suggest you do migration on test environment first, then move it to your production server.
When I have selected an Account, then normally I am able to click at the second tab; Other Information (where I can see all the status of the customer).
However, this tab/button is missing.

Mailscanner lets you define rules to detect and attach mail to Account and Contact based on TO or FROM field of the email.

Thank you Prasad for your quick answer. I ve look deeply into the documentation and have not found a way of automatically attach inbound mail to specific account/contact based on their email adress.
Do you mean that for each and every CONTACT I should create a rule to attach the emails that come through ? If so it’s going to be a though one.

I don’t know if it helps but we have a generic mailbox that pops ALL other mailboxes in order to scan only 1 mailbox.

Make sure you have provided Access Key and not password while trying to connect to vtiger from thunderbird.
Thunderbird extension for vtigerCRM5.1.0 has gone through few changes and enhancements will be good if you go through the user manual[http://www.vtiger.com/archives/validation/5.1.0-val2/VtigerCRM_5.1.0_Thunderbird_Plugin.pdf] for better usage of this extension.

Hi I have managed to get 5.10 rc up and running. I downloaded the client for outlook and installed it to vista 32. Outlook 2007. I ran the exe as administrator and rebooted.
When I look at the version under help it reports 504? It ran the install without errors reported. When I try to connect I get errors. I can still connect from an xp machine with the 504 client so it seems the server is working. Outlook 2003.
I downloaded the file Saturday.
Error 1: PocketSOAP objects cannot be initialize
Error 2: Error while writing log message
Error 3:Your outlook plugin is not compatable with your vtiger server
So maybe the download is linked to the wrong file or there is a problem with vista or outlook 2007.

Trying to add a trouble ticket I have no entries in the status drop down. There are entries in the picklist but they dont show up. If I create a new entry it shows up. Is it a roles issue? I tried it as a regular user and admin with the same results.

We are using vtiger purly for internal matters and therefore we would like to turn the email opt out on for all accounts, contact’s and leads.
And turn on the Notify owner option.
Is it possible to have this as standard?

please help- I just migrated to 5.1RC but I do not see a Webform module. I thought there was going to be a more user friendly Webform module in this version and I see under Module Manager the WEBFORM module listed but I do not find any way to access it

Having a problem configuring the SETTINGS > OUTGOING SERVER.
When I try to set my email servers settings, then press save, I receive an:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Anyone else having this problem?
When I down load the Source zip file and I attempt to un zip it I get an error
! vtigercrm-5.1.0RC.tar: The archive is corrupt
Can you upload a new version of the zip file.
I have attempted to download this file 3 times now and still the same issue.
As to the issue with UnZipping, after I unzipp witht he error above, I run the install.php and I get the first two screens.
install/migrate and then the lic agreement page. after I click next. I get a blank screen.

If you try extracting vtigercrm-5.1.0RC.tar.gz using 7zip.
First it will extract to vtigercrm-5.1.0RC.tar
Then you need to extract once again with extracted .tar file

Webform facilitates the operation of capturing data from an external source (probably your website)to one of the module(e.g. Leads, Contacts etc.) in vtigerCRM.
To make this happen you need to configure Webforms.config.php which is available under modules/Webforms directory in your vtigercrm root.
Refer to Webform Documentation for better usage of webform.
It is listed under Module Manager to provide user some flexibility to enable or disable this feature.

I got the zip file to unzip.
I ran the install and I get a blank screen after the recommendations.

Enable debug changing FATAL to DEBUG in log4php.properties.
If it isn’t enough remove comment in the file include/database/PearDatbase.php at line:
//$db->debug = true;
This could give more information about the issue.

I can’t see custom field mapping (eg lead to contact conversion) in the new version of vtiger. Is it available anywhere or has it been removed ?

Custom field mapping is available with newer version of vtiger.
You have two ways to access it:
1. In Leads module click on Leads Settings icon available along with calculator, world clock, calendar etc. icons in tools list.
2.Go to Module Manager > Leads there you’ll see the option for custom field mapping.

Can you please check if user_privileges\user_privileges_1.php file has no syntax issues that is it is written correctly.
If it has issues then you need to re-install it.

Hi Everybody
while testing, I’ve encountered these issues regarding the calendar Module (event).
1- the calendar list doesn’t show the status of the event when it’s on “held”. I’ve checked Roles privileges on “Picklist Editor” and everything seems fine.
2- on “Trouble Ticket” module, the related event is moved from activities when “held” but it’s not displayed in Activity history (while for task it does).
3- Creating a custom field on an event is properly handled but on the module, its data is not stored on the event (neither text nor picklist.)
would that be fixed on 5.1 GA
