new commercial grade Outlook Plugin
November 19th, 2009 by Balduin
We published a new Outlook Plugin for the vtiger CRM v.5.1.0. You may find the details at
the vtiger forums entry.
This Plugin is complete new development based on .NET removing all old COM dependencies. Therefore, is it faster, simplifies the installation and is compatible to all Windows versions starting with XP.
It also fixes some CRM errors and provides an update for the SOAP and Contacts module files which can also be used to improve the free version available at the vtiger Extension page

Problem - The plugin was not installed (does not appear in Outlook)
My Settings = Windows XP - Outlook 2007.
Question
How much?
The sources are included?
Polix, most likely you do not have the latest update of your Outlook and .NET software installed.
That´s good news.
I want to thank you (crmnow) for developing a new and improved Outlook Plugin. (feature lists sounds promissing)
I already used your “old” plugin and guess that i will like and even buy (how much is it?) the new one.
May you could be so kind and give some information on pricing. (before i install it)
Thanks in Advance
Hi Balduin,
I’ve been following your extension but we currently use a user/ password protected server to access Vtiger from Internet and your plugin doesn’t seem to be able to go through. Any thoughts on how to solve our issue since we wouldn’t like to have our vtiger server so easily accessible ?
Great job, Cheers
NonoFr
NonoFr, make sure that your vtigerservice.php is reachable through the Internet. You may test this by entering the appropriate URL into the browser, e.g. https:///vtigerservice.php It should display all the SOAP services available to you and include the service “vtigerCRM Outlook Plugin EndPoint URL”. If something is missing modify your server settings until this is visible.
for unknown reasons the url above is not displayed as I entered it. The URL fpr the vtigerserverices should be something like https://yourCRMserveraddress/vtigerservice.php
Hi Balduin,
Thank you for having replied so quickly. As a matter of fact, the above test works well (once connected to my apache serve) and I’m able to see :
vtigerCRM Soap Services
# vtigerCRM Outlook Plugin EndPoint URL — Click here
# vtigerCRM Word Plugin EndPoint URL — Click here
# vtigerCRM ThunderBird Extenstion EndPoint URL — Click here
# vtigerCRM Customer Portal EndPoint URL — Click here
# vtigerCRM WebForm EndPoint URL — Click here
# vtigerCRM FireFox Extension EndPoint URL — Click here.
The only thing is that in order to access this server I require a login/password for security purposes. Perhaps the question is WHY DO I NEED TO HAVE A LOGIN/PASSWORD to access VTIGER since VTIGER has it’s own security and login???? Just felt more confortable (not that I do not trust Vtiger Engineers to make sure their product is bullet proof… but you never know…. ;))
So indeed once I have the Outlook plugin within outlook, the plugin cannot reach Vtiger server…. hope this clarifies and will enable others to elaborate regarding the need to further securize Vtiger server once on the internet.
Regards,
NonoFr
NonoFr, of course your additional Server Login is not performed by the Plugin. I do not know what you did but perhaps you can add your login data to the URL in the Plugin.
A new version of the Plugin has been published on 12/16/09 at the vtiger Extension page. It is faster, allows Proxy settings, has a debug mode and a better documentation for trouble shooting. You may give it a try.
A new version of the Plugin has been published on 01/29/10 at the vtiger Extension page. This version improves the error handling, for further information goto http://forums.vtiger.com/viewtopic.php?p=99957&app_mr=707#99957
