We are pleased to announce the release of vtiger 5.0.4. This release addresses about 900 issues covering stability, security, UTF-8, other bug-fixes and a few feature enhancements.

Note for Developers: Some changes have been made in 5.0.4 relating to the database APIs to address some security and performance issues.

Thank you all for your patience and invaluable support to reach this milestone. It has taken longer than we originally planned, but it was necessary to achieve our goal of putting out a solid release. One particular area which consumed a lot of time was the UTF-8 support and the related migration issues. The release also addresses some critical security related issues reported by the community.

We welcome your feedback. Please report any issues on Trac or on the forums.

The patch to migrate from earlier versions to 5.0.4 will be made available soon.

vtiger CRM 5.0 - Patch 4 (vtigercrm-5.0.0-patch4.zip) is now released and is available at this link.
Please go through the Upgrading Procedure section of the latest release notes before applying patch and migrating.

vtigerCRM 5.0.4 validation build is now available for testing. We have addressed critical, major issues and minor enhancements after vtigerCRM 5.0.4 RC release.

We request our community to extend support in testing this build and provide us valuable feedbacks.

During testing kindly focus on:
* UTF-8 support
* Migration from older versions (including vtiger 5.0.4RC) to vtiger 5.0.4
* Security fixes and SOAP vulnerability testing
* Office, Outlook, Thunderbird, Firefox Plugins and Customer Portal

Sorry for the delay in sharing update on vtiger 5.0.4 .

Last week another round of bug fixing and validation was completed. We addressed the following:
* Migration issues from previous releases
* Plugin security was tightened.

Issues that needs to be addressed for the release have been prioritized and our team is working on them.

We are close to release, and expect a short time to fix the critical & major issues.

I request our language pack owners to update translations for vtiger 5.0.4

A brief update on the 5.0.4 release. Fixing issues, vigorous testing, code integration has kept us busy over the last week.

Most of our time is being consumed reproducing migration related issues, but we are happy to have found several issues and their causes.

Our community participants have been a big help on patch testing (before integration), and getting their approval is a priority for our developers.

Demo server (http://en.vtiger.com/wip) was updated with the post 5.0.4RC build that was used for validation, hope you had a chance to check it out.

We certainly appreciate when community developers checkout our latest code from SVN, and test it on regular basis.
This gives us a lot more confidence as we head towards 5.0.4 GA release.

We are making steady progress towards release, will keep you updated.

Update 22.02.2008:
Demo server (http://en.vtiger.com/wip) was updated with our latest work today. Looking forward for feedbacks. Keep us informed on any issue you notice.

We have completed a round of vtiger 5.0.4 validation (after RC release).

Several issues with migration have been captured and now we are working on them to address it in our GA.

We encourage our community to continue updating us with any issues they face with vtiger 5.0.4RC, including issues with migration of existing data.
We would like to find and fix as many migration issues as possible before we release.

UTF-8 support has been added now to Quotes, Invoices, Sales Order and Purchase Orders PDF’s, this code is checked in to SVN branch 5.0.4.
We need you to test this feature and send us feedback as well.

vtiger server maintenance is being planned this weekend. Our servers might go down for few hours and will be back with more energy

COMPLETION UPDATE: We have completed the server maintenance. The servers were offline from 6 PM PST to 8 PM PST on Jan 22nd. vtiger Trac and Forge were offline a little longer. Some users might have experienced longer downtimes because of DNS propagation delays (the ipaddresses have changed).  Thanks for your cooperation.
