The year that was for Vtiger CRM

As the year draws to a close, it is with a touch of pride that I say - 2022 has been our best year yet. We have been around for over 18 years, so that really means something. 

A big thank you to everyone who has made it possible. 

We continue to lead the CRM industry in delivering a true One View. With Vtiger One CRM Editions, businesses around the world, across industries, are delivering great customer experiences. We are proud to power SMB and Enterprise teams with our powerful offerings. In fact, starting this year, Vtiger is now the force behind one of the world's largest help desk operations handling millions of transactions per week.

Hundreds of new businesses placed their trust in Vtiger to drive their business growth this year - many of them migrating to Vtiger from leading alternative CRMs that could not deliver true One View with the ease and cost-effectiveness that we do. 

While our customer base grew, so did our team strength. Vtiger has been hiring throughout the year, and we still are. If you or someone you know wants to join our team, please check out our careers page for open positions.

On popular demand from universities around the world, we have launched a free Vtiger One Learning Edition this year. This is specially designed for students trying to learn CRM concepts as a part of their academic curriculum. 

The exciting journey we are on:

In 2021, we started the journey of transforming Vtiger Cloud from a tool that delivered capabilities to a platform that gave our customers and partners an opportunity to build any unique and custom business solutions they wanted.  

We integrated VTAP, our super easy-to-use drag-and-drop low-code platform, into the One Professional and Enterprise editions. 

Our singular goal for 2022 has been to make it easy for our partners and client developers to build those solutions on the Vtiger platform. We have made good progress on this through enhancements to the various components of VTAP, including its low-code toolset and the no-code process flow designer. 

We are excited to see a high adoption and a wide range of new features being developed on the platform. Everything from custom dashboards, integrations, and custom modules to new capabilities like field sales, quality audit, and a full-scale learning management system (LMS) have been developed with VTAP. 

While we are on the topic of new capabilities - here is a short and limited list of new things added to our cloud editions in 2022: 

  1. Vtiger Application Platform (VTAP) Enhancements
  2. Process Designer Enhancements
  3. UX Improvements
  4. Field Sales & other industry-specific solutions (E.g., Construction Add-on)
  5. LMS for Onboarding and Sales Readiness
  6. Deal Revenue Schedules for Subscription businesses
  7. Quality Audit feature
  8. New integrations (WooCommerce, Jio Meet, Docupilot, MYOB)
  9. Enhancements to existing Integrations (MS Teams, many Accounting apps)
  10. Many enhancements to address gaps and requests from our clients

We were also mentioned in the Gartner Magic Quadrant, again! 

The platform capabilities along with the increasing depth of functionality such as Deal room were reasons cited by Gartner for including Vtiger amongst the select providers on the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Salesforce Automation (4th year in a row).

This is an exciting journey for us - we are just getting started with a whole world of possibilities that will open up for our user base. 

And I was saving something close to our hearts for the last. 

In the last couple of years, while we have been navigating the challenges introduced by the pandemic, there was a lull in updates to Vtiger Open Source. There has been some criticism. We remain committed to our open-source community and have launched a new version of our open-source edition, Vtiger CRM 7.5, with support for PHP 8.x. This now brings the open-source codebase to the latest version of PHP, which includes many new features and performance improvements. 

As I said when I started this post, 2022 has been quite the year for us here at Vtiger. We continue to find great joy in delivering capabilities and solutions that make it easy for you to delight your customers. The vindication we get through your adoption of new capabilities makes us beam with pride.

The top trends that most industry experts highlighted were Artificial Intelligence (AI), Customer Experience, Social CRM, Voice-based UI, Automation, Quality Data, Insightful Analytics, the Internet of Things (IoT), CRM Mobility, and CRMs for new industries and verticals. 

Many companies implemented these technologies into their CRMs, especially AI, Social CRM, and mobile CRM versions. CRMs have now begun catering to new industries. 

Vtiger CRM added the Calculus AI feature to its CRM to help you with conversation analysis and recommendations. Our CRM also has a robust Social module. You can integrate your social media accounts with the CRM and manage your messaging and customer interactions directly from the CRM. We have put power in your hands with our Process Designer feature - our automation tool for business processes and VTAP, our low-code platform tool that helps you build apps and customize your CRM by yourself!

Along with a host of others, Vtiger CRM now caters to the Construction industry. We have enhanced many existing features and the UI and added many new integrations to provide you with a great customer experience. 

2023 should be challenging with new trends and expectations. 

We forecast that CRMs will focus more on creating custom CRMs that will cater to exactly what customers want, powerful dashboards that will give you an all-around view of the customer down to the last detail, and CRMs that cater to new industries.
