Vtiger’s Insights Designer, a light, easy-to-use, practical BI tool - just what SMBs need!

I am excited about the launch of Insights Designer. With it, you can now design dashboards to show custom metrics and widgets that aren't possible with the default reporting module in the CRM.

Though not quite a full-fledged BI tool, the Insights Designer might just be what you are looking for.

Insights Designer offers the following:

1. New charts that can be added to the dashboard (Metric, Pivot)

2. Custom query support that fetches data from different endpoints, including those outside Vtiger. It supports -

  • Direct query to Vtiger DB
  • Vtiger Webservice API
  • Use of Custom Rest APIs developed via VTAP's API Designer

3. Raw SQL

4. Filter fields at the dashboard level that can be used in all the widget queries and APIs (as request parameters)

Our Growth team previously used spreadsheets for tracking sales across different channels. For example, we track deals closed by the internal sales team, our partners, and direct subscriptions. To classify deals into one of these three, we needed custom logic based on the owner of the deal. Earlier, this was done manually. Now, with the Insights Designer, we are able to write custom SQL to generate charts like the following (illustrative data).

List View Customization

As customer data becomes easier to gather and store, I find that I have to quickly and easily sort through this voluminous data to support our customers better.

When a customer calls in, I need to be capable of quickly finding related data and sales and support conversations to be well-informed and up-to-date on previous interactions and internal tasks we have ongoing with them.

With the List View customization options available in Vtiger, I can easily modify the columns being displayed to search by each field listed, create custom lists and share those with individual team members and groups, and have even installed our Grid Edit add-on to edit field information directly from the List View.

All of these options have guaranteed that the information I need is only a few clicks away and can be updated just as fast.
