Vtiger CRM Open Source Version 6.0 Released

We’re pleased to announce the official launch of Vtiger CRM Open Source version 6.0.0, which was released for download on January 10th to much fanfare. We’d like to start by emphasizing that the release wouldn’t have been possible without all of you, our huge community of users, partners, and developers, for using the software in your businesses, scrutinizing your experiences, reviewing lines of code, pitching feature enhancements, reporting bugs, fixing bugs, and spreading the word – a gargantuan effort from which we all finally benefit starting today.

Marking the 6th major open source release of Vtiger CRM in the 10 years that Vtiger has been around, and the most significant change to the software in its history, all of the bug fixes and new features that you’ve heard about come wrapped in a brand new interface. The interface is designed to bring the information that you frequently use to the foreground, to help you more quickly find other data, to work together with your colleagues, to accomplish tasks in fewer clicks, and to navigate from point a to point b more seamlessly. Functionally, you’ll find that everything works more smoothly, from data entry, to search, to navigation and beyond. When users or administrators get stuck, new documentation and video tutorials pages can be referenced to cover any gaps in knowledge. And underneath the hood developers will find a new, more modular code structure, with an accompanying community help site, which, combined, we hope will make customization and development a cinch.

We’ve summarized a list of the major changes since 5.4 below. Please note that we’ll be pushing a 6.1 release in the coming months to add back in some less frequented CRM areas which still saw some demand, as well as to add in some major functional enhancements that we’ve been working on (see the summary release notes). For now, however – Enjoy, and Happy New Year!

Changes

  • Nested Condition Grouping in Filter with (AND/OR) now reduced to Flattened mode.
  • Report Sharing (all reports are public in 6.0. only accessible records are visible to user)
