Your privacy, and data, are safe with Vtiger CRM Open Source

Occasionally, we hear questions about whether we can access the data you store in Vtiger CRM Open Source. The answer to that is a resounding “no”. We can’t access the data you store in Vtiger. We believe that open source software should be free without caveats.

The only completely anonymous information we ask for, are your industry, country (sourced from your IP address), and Vtiger version. We ask for this through a full-page disclaimer a single time during the installation process.

We use this information to help us understand how the Vtiger ecosystem is evolving as a whole. When we see large changes in installation volumes, like a 50% increase in installs in China, or a 10% month-over-month decline in the UK, it tells us where to start investigating to find the cause. This helps us invest resources in improving Vtiger features and awareness, to everyones benefit.

Once Vtiger CRM is installed, your instance and all its data belong to, and are only ever accessible by you and your employees. That said, your data is as secure as the practices and policies you follow to keep it that way. Customer data is incredibly valuable, so we always recommend using the most up-to-date versions of all infrastructure and software running on your server, setting up firewalls with appropriately restrictive settings, using strong password policies, and the like to keep that data away from prying eyes.

If keeping your CRM secure sounds like a ton of work – well, it is! We have an entire team dedicated to just that. But given what could happen if your customer data fell into competitors’ hands – it’s more than worth it. If you’re not in the business of IT security, but still want a secure CRM solution to conduct sales, launch marketing campaigns, and/or support your customers, let us take care of the security and privacy for you. With one of Vtiger’s Cloud Editions, just sign-up, sign-in, and get going, and leave it to us to keep your data secure.
