A brief FAQ on how we ensure secure access to Vtiger and protect your data

Service Availability

99.9 % Uptime

Vtiger commits to providing customers with a 99.9% uptime (excluding maintenance scheduled on weekend nights).

Maintenance updates

Vtiger CRM On Demand (OD) is updated monthly with new features and bug fixes. Updates are deployed on the last Saturday of the month and may result in a disruption of under 1 hour during that time. Clients will be notified prior to maintenance being performed.


256 bit SSL Encryption

All data transferred between your browser and Vtiger’s servers are secured with industry standard 256-bit SSL encryption

Daily backup

Vtiger takes database and file backups of every customer instance every day. This backup is stored on a separate server to protect against the risk of hardware failure. In the case of such a failure, data and service access can be restored within 8 hours

Security Patches

Vtiger performs preventative maintenance to protect against any potential vulnerabilities by deploying patches as and when they are developed internally or otherwise become available

Authorization and Access Control

Vtiger CRM supports role based access control, allowing you to control your users’ access to specific fields, records, and other data in the CRM


Is Vtiger HIPAA and HITECH compliant?

We adhere to the following HIPAA and HITECH practices at all times. However, we have not been independently audited and certified by a third party as being HIPAA and HITECH compliant

Where is my data stored?

Vtiger’s servers are located in the United States, European Union (Ireland, Frankfurt), Australia, Singapore, Japan and India. The server on which your data is stored depends upon the region in which you are located at the time at which you start your free Vtiger trial.

Who can access my data?

To provide prompt support, Vtiger support team members have access to customer data when the customer grants the access. Measures exist to ensure that this access is restricted to essential employees and to assure that they only do so at your request.

For security reasons, you may enable IP based restrictions to prevent Vtiger employees from accessing your account.

What do you do to ensure that my data is safe?

Hackers tend to target services known to have vulnerabilities, often exploiting visibly aged and unmaintained infrastructure. Vtiger ensures that all employed infrastructure and technologies run up-to-date software.

Vtiger also employs a security team to discover and address vulnerabilities within our software, as well as incentivizing our members of the broader software security community to identify and report vulnerabilities.

How can I export data out of the system?

Administrators and Users can export data from each module via CSV file, using the built in export tool.

Upon request, Vtiger can provide complete SQL database exports and complete document exports, each for a $50 fee. This fee is waived for one SQL backup every 6 months.

How long does Vtiger keep the data if we cancel our account?

For trial accounts that do not start a paid subscription, data are deleted 12 days after the trial ends.

For paid accounts that are canceled, data are deleted 90 days after the account’s cancellation date.

For paid accounts that have a payment failure, the account will be suspended within 15 days, and closed after 90 days. All data will be deleted 1 week after account closure.

For free accounts, data are deleted after 60 days of account inactivity
