How do I install the patch if I am upgrading from 5.2.0 to 5.2.1? Do I just copy all the files over from the patch to the 5.2.0, and overwriting any existing files? Please let me know, thanks!

before doing the upgrade, I would like to know if the database has some changes (new tables, adding fields to tables, change of values).
The migration I am not successful because the provider on which I have the CRM tables in “mysam” and not allow me to turn them into “innodb” so I have to do a fresh install of 5.2.1 vtiger in a new database. If the database did not, however no change, I could copy the entire database in version 5.2 in the new database.

prima di fare l’aggiornamento, vorrei sapere se il database ha delle modifiche (nuove tabelle, aggiunta campi alle tabelle, cambio di valori).
La migrazione non mi è andata a buon fine perchè il provider su cui ho il crm ha le tabelle in formato “mysam” e non mi permette di trasformarle in “innodb” così sono costretto a effettuare una nuova installazione di vtiger 5.2.1 in un nuovo database. Se il db però non ha NESSUNA modifica, potrei copiare l’intero database della versione 5.2 nel nuovo database.
Secondo voi funziona?

There are no database schema changes as such. Only information that needs to be updated is the vtiger version in vtiger_version table. Other than that, its just a matter of unzipping the patch.

if I use the patch to do the upgrade, when I connect the first time the site of the crm, I run the migration wizard. At this point does not allow me to migrate properly, the problem that I had written before. So I thought to use the solution that I had written before. I might know the exact values that have changed in the table that I’ve written, so I can replace them by hand.

In table vtiger_version, you need to update the current_version value to 5.2.1. Hope that solves your problem.

The migration was fine, but i noticed that the e-mail variable box was not working in fr language (combo list empty) but was ok in english language, I can choose all variable from my modules. What is wrong in the other language ?

Yes that is possible. The patch that we have provided is to migrate vtiger CRM 5.1.0 or later versions to 5.2.1.
I want to migrate vtiger 5.04 to 5.21, I have to migrate 504 to 510? If not, how can I use 5.21 migration tools.

Yes. You need to first migrate to 5.1.0 and only then to 5.2.1

There are database changes besides the vtiger_version table right? It says all the users passwords have been reset to be the same as the username, ie:
User: admin
Pass: admin
Are there any other changes besides that?

Sorry to wish you late guys, but it is really a great step forward. I remember last year the state was so bad when there were so many known issues in 5.1 and many of them were fixed in trac, but no easy way to use them.

As there is no database change from 5.2 to 5.2.1, can I just install a fresh 5.2, and then import the database from a 5.2 database backup?

To update the current version of vtiger in the database, you need to go through the Migration wizard though there are no database changes.

we are running vtiger 5.2.0 in a production system base on windows, it works well but we have somo issues solved with the new realease.
we want to upgrade but we don’t know exactly how to migrate because the windows file it seems as a new install package. Do you know how to upgrade ?
note, one sugetion to improve the funcionality:
when you add a calendar even you receive an email informing assistants about the meeting but this email its a aplain text email no a vcard standard invitation. if you send this as a calendar note you can integrate calendar entries with notes, outlook and other emails systems.
With the actual solution every participant have to add manually a calendar note in there own calendar.

You should not face any difficulties, but you will have to do 2 step upgrade for this. First you need to upgrade from v5.0.3 to v5.1.0 and then to v5.2.1.

I have a requirement where I want to create a module in vTiger which looks like the Contacts module, but instead of it referring to people it refers to Buildings.
In this way a building can be related to a Client or a Contact, but still has its own modules as Clients and Contacts do. Really it is a third major entity in the same way as the Clients and Contact tables are.
Have you heard of this kind of requirement before?

Haven’t heard about such requirement so far. But building such modules through vtlib api should be quite simple.
Also please try and put such questions on forums. This is no where related to the current blog post and doesn’t make sense to have it here.

I tried to migrate vtigercrm from 5.1.0 to 5.2.1 using the patch on linux. Everything went ok, but on the screen before last where database changes are applied (all went ok) NEXT button is missing. Anyone has simillar experiance?

Hi Sivakumar,
There must be mismatch in your username and password for which you can not able to log in to vtigerCRM.The admin of the CRM can reset the password for any other user in CRM.
As you are saying you are not admin of the CRM then please send request to admin of the CRM, He should go to Settings > Users page,then to the detail page of your user and he can found the change password button.Click on that button and give the new password.
This is the only way to reset the password for non admin user. If admin user password is also lost then changes needed to be done in mysql.Please try the above way which I mentioned and let us know your observation.
