We have received requests from the user community to provide visibility into the vtiger roadmap. I would like to thank them for being patient! Our current plan is as follows:

  • 5.0.3 Patch in 4 weeks time
  • 5.1 Release by end of December
  • 6.0 Release next year

After 5.0.3 release, and the subsequent patch for PHP 5.2, we along with community help have closed about 150 trouble tickets. We will be bundling these fixes together in a patch, and release it in about 4 weeks time after we complete the validation. For a complete list of issues that are resolved, please see this list of tickets that have been closed since 5.0.3 release

The patch will include support for UTF-8 (except in a couple of modules that still depend on a PDF library which doesn’t support UTF-8) . In addition, we hope to fix the POP3 mail access issue.

We’ll be finalizing and sharing the features list for 5.1 in a few weeks time.

For Release 6.0, the next major release, our goal is to have small core framework and pluggable modules applications and web services.

UPDATE: Based on the feedback we received, we are now planning to also distribute the upcoming patch as a fully integrated release (will be labeled 5.0.4). So, there will be two downloads:

  1. 5.0.3 users can download and install the patch in order to upgrade to 5.0.4.
  2. New users can download the integrated 5.0.4 release (this download includes 5.0.3 + patch)
